Terms

The terms, plainly

What applies when you use this website, send us an enquiry or book a trip with us, and where the supplier’s own terms take over.

Effective October 9, 2026

Who we are

The Travelling T is an independent travel advisor practice. Our bookings are made through our host agency, Trevello, a member of Virtuoso. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean The Travelling T, and “you” means the person using this website or travelling with us.

By using this website or asking us to plan a trip, you agree to these terms.

Our role

We plan your trip and book it on your behalf with the travel suppliers who provide it: airlines, hotels, cruise and expedition lines, rail and tour operators, guides and ground handlers. We act as their agent. Your contract for each service is with that supplier, and its own booking terms, including its cancellation and change rules, apply to it. We will show you those terms before you commit.

Enquiries, proposals and prices

Sending an enquiry does not make a booking or hold space. Nothing is booked until you have accepted a written proposal and the supplier has confirmed it.

Prices on this website are indicative “from” prices, to give a sense of scale. They are not quotes. The price you pay is the one in your written proposal, and it can change until the booking is confirmed, because supplier rates, availability, taxes and exchange rates change.

Our fees

Hotel stays, cruises, set tours and scheduled rail journeys carry no fee from us. A custom journey across several stops carries a design fee of CA$400 per trip. We tell you on the first call whether it applies, and nothing is charged until you have agreed to it in writing.

The design fee is credited in full to the trip when you book. The full detail is on How we work and fees.

Payments

We do not take payments on this website. Every payment goes either to the supplier directly or to our host agency, Trevello. You will never be asked to send money to an advisor or to The Travelling T directly. Deposits, balances and their due dates are set by each supplier and shown in your proposal and your trip portal.

Changes and cancellations

If you change or cancel a booking, the supplier’s terms decide what it costs. On expedition voyages and small lodges these terms are strict, and deposits are often non-refundable. If a supplier changes or cancels your booking, we will help you with the options it offers, and any refund comes from that supplier under its terms.

Passports, visas and health

You are responsible for holding a valid passport, the visas and entry documents your trip needs, and meeting any health or vaccination requirements. We will point you to the official sources for each country, but entry rules change and the final word belongs to the government concerned. Check the Government of Canada’s travel advice for your destination before you go.

Travel insurance

We strongly recommend insurance that covers trip cancellation, medical care and emergency evacuation, bought when you book. Some voyages and remote trips require evacuation cover as a condition of travel. Insurance is arranged through our host agency’s licensed desk. If you choose not to insure, you accept the costs insurance would have covered.

Our responsibility

We take care in planning and booking your trip. We are not responsible for what suppliers do or fail to do, or for events outside our control, such as weather, natural events, strikes, illness, government action or changes to a supplier’s schedule. Adventure and expedition travel carries real risks, and some activities are physically demanding; tell us about anything that affects what you can do, so we can plan around it.

Nothing in these terms limits a right you have under the law that cannot be limited.

This website

What we write here is general information, checked when it was written. Seasons, routes, prices and entry rules change, so treat it as a starting point and not as advice for your own trip until we have confirmed it with you.

Photographs are our own. Some scenes are illustrations, created to show the kind of place described rather than photographed there. The words and photographs on this site belong to us; please ask before using them.

Your personal information

How we collect and look after your details is set out in our privacy notice.

Law that applies

These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
