How a booking works

A commissionable booking, and a guest who arrives briefed

We book direct with the property under our IATA number wherever the brand allows it, because that is the route where the guest keeps their own loyalty number and status, and you keep the relationship and the data rather than handing both to a wholesaler.

The guest pays what you charge. There is no markup on the room and no booking fee, and the commission comes from you on the usual terms. That is the whole commercial arrangement, and it is the same one printed on our client-facing pages, so nobody is being told two versions of it.

  • What we are asking for

Your advisor or agent rate, and the name of whoever handles it. If a rate needs loading, or you would rather quote each booking by email, say which and we will work that way.

  • What you get from the booking

A guest who has been told what to expect before they arrive. We send every client a written note about a week ahead, and again the day before if anything has changed, which is where most of the small complaints at check-in come from.

  • What we will not ask you for

A complimentary stay in exchange for coverage. If a property wants an independent read on its guest journey, that is The Quiet Guest, a separate paid service on its own page, and it is never bundled into a rate request.

Where we place clients

The extent of it, by destination

Every one of these is a trip we plan and have travelled ourselves, written up in full on the journeys pages. It is the honest answer to whether our clients go to places like yours.

If you were sent here by mistake

There are two different conversations, and this is the first one

Rates, bookings and commission

This page. Write to us and we will tell you what we are working on and roughly when.

Partnerships and an independent guest review

Advisor programs, site inspections and fams are on our partners page. An anonymous review of your guest journey is The Quiet Guest, a separate paid service. We keep the two apart on purpose, so a rate never buys a report and a report never buys a rate.
